Garhwa is located in one of the Backward Districts in Jharkhand state. It is known as Palash, city as it is the main source of flower Palash. It is situated on the southwest corner of the Palamu Division. The district is surrounded by river Sone in the north, Palamu District in the east and Sarguja district of Chhattisgarh in the south, and Sonebhadra district of U.P in the west. The nearest railway stations are Garhwa Town and Nearest Airport is Ranchi or Banaras.
